We are very excited to meet all of you. We feel strongly that we aren't just a team but a family. We are here to support your learning and in any way that we can help you. We are very excited to implement Edmodo.com this year. We will be on a learning curve with it just like you. We are happy to offer you access to your grades (and parents can see their child's grades) online through gradebookwizard.com. We will all have a fun, exciting, and successful year.

Today seventy-two students and seven teachers enjoyed Marvin's "How the Body Works" show. With his rapping, juggling, and magic tricks, he taught us all about the body in reference to a house. We hope all the students enjoyed this learning and our visit to the Providence Performing Arts Center!
Be sure you check your gradebookwizard account to make sure that you have made up all your work. Also you should be checking your LE Bucks account weekly and cashing in for prizes.
Don't forget we will be having another team award and honor roll assembly. If you wish to win an award, you must get good grades on your report cards. Friday marked the end of the first quarter. Students, you should work hard to check gradebookwizard at least once a week. You should set the goal of making up all work for that week by Friday or the Monday of the following week. Students, you should work on not handing in make up work at the last minute and worrying if they are going to pass with a few days left in the quarter. If you do this, I guarantee you will have better success in the second quarter and the rest of the year.
We would like to extend a warm welcome to Mrs. Dwyer who joins our team on Monday, November 5th as the science teacher for the rest of the school year. She will be working hard to create a seamless transition in all aspects of the school day. Students need to work on remembering their IDs and agendas every day. If you know that you're forgetful about your ID and you don't take a bus, then you should leave it in your locker or pass it in to your homeroom teacher. We wish you all a very successful second quarter! Students enjoyed using their NECAP reward tickets to earn different prizes. Congratulations to all the winners! See the poster in Mrs. Curt's room for your name.
This week all students who had their photo taken received their school ID. It's required for all to have them every day and to wear them so that they are visible and above their waists. The photos are not to be covered and the IDs shouldn't be destroyed in anyway. If so or if it's lost, students have to pay $5 to replace them. Students who were not here at the beginning of the year had their picture taken this week. While we are waiting for those IDs, the students were given a teacher created ID that they must wear each day and return it at the end of the day. We were very excited to have so many of you join us during the conferences. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to learn about our classrooms. If you were unable to attend and would like to meet with us, please fill out your information on the contact form.
Progress reports were sent home on Thursday with all students. Students must return them signed by Tuesday. These reports are to allow everyone to know how they are doing and if they need to make up any work. Remember you can check your grades daily at www.gradebookwizard.com and you don't have to wait for this one report.
Students, if you need your log in information, see your homeroom teacher. Parents, if you lost your log in information send Mrs. Curt a message on the Contact Us page. We are EXTREMELY proud of all the students' hard work and effort they showed during the test. Everyone gave their best and used their time wisely. Everyone who finished early was polite and respectful by staying silent or reading a personal reading book while the other students finished. Kudos to all and we can't wait to celebrate your success during the team and school-wide raffles!
The yearly NECAP reading and math state tests are happening soon! Reading will be October 2, 3, and 4 during periods 2 and 3. Math will be October 10, 11, and 12 during periods 2 and 3. Students will receive one raffle ticket each day for attendance and effort for a total of 2 raffle tickets each day. Students can earn a bonus raffle tickets for bringing in their own calculator, pencil and encouragmints (peppermint candies). A team letter with more details will be sent home within the next few days.
Students may find it hard to believe, but teachers also have the jitters on the first day. Jitters is a funny sounding word for being nervous. We always want the first day to be memorable and to ease the jitters of the students. In order to calm our jitters, we decorate our classrooms and make an agenda of what needs to be accomplished on the first day. Having a "To Do" list is a very helpful way to keep your jitters at bay (an idiom meaning to hold back or to make less) and to help you accomplish tasks or goals.
A great way to be successful in the seventh grade is to create "To Do" lists in your agenda while keeping in mind any due dates that may be looming (a very scary sounding word) over you. Welcome to the Pumas where learning is interesting, intriguing, and fun. We hope you enjoyed your first day with us! |
